Public education is one of the best investments we can make in ourselves. Education--publicly funded education--is how many Americans work their way into the middle class. Having attended public K-12 schools, community college, and West Virginia University, my bedrock belief in the power of a high-quality, public education is the reason I serve as the Prince William County School Board Chairman. It’s why I put in late hours, figuring out ways to stretch public money--your tax dollars--in the most responsible way. I always look for ways for our schools to be better. I want to reduce standardized testing and pay our hard-working teachers a higher wage. I will not stand by and let public education be gutted. Do not be fooled by the claims of those in favor of public money for charter schools or vouchers. I am steadfastly against charter schools and vouchers that pull local funding from communities that really need it.
